Deputy Chief Fire Officer
What does your job involve?
As Deputy Chief Fire Officer I have direct responsibility for the Service Support Directorate, which includes Performance & Information, ICT, Operational Fleet and Equipment, Health & Safety, and Operational Policy.
When did you start working for the Service?
After training at Droitwich Fire Station, I officially started my career in the fire service at Redditch Fire Station back in 1990. Since then, I've risen through the ranks and worked in many of the departments across the Service. After spending three years overseeing Service Support and establishing the 2020 Vision Programme, I moved on to oversee Service Delivery. In 2012 I became Assistant Chief Fire Officer with responsibility for our 27 fire stations, National Resilience, Community Risk, and Training.
Why do you like working for HWFRS?
I am surrounded by so many highly skilled and passionate people that serve their communities in their hour of need and it is a pleasure to be part of that. Although we are experiencing challenging times, the workforce continually stays positive and it is clear that there is a strong desire to deliver the best service we can.
What interests do you have outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. When I get the chance, I enjoy travelling, playing various sports and long distance running.
