Head of Community Risk, Human Resources and Development
What does your job involve?
My job is varied and involves the overall management of Community Risk and HR & Development. Community Risk deals with both business and community fire safety to ensure that the people in our two counties are as safe as possible. HR & Development also play a pivotal role within the organisation in supporting and developing our staff.
When did you start working for the Service?
I started my career in the fire service in 1998 with West Midlands Fire Service. In 2000, I joined Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service as a firefighter based at Redditch Fire Station. Since then, I have been fortunate to work in various roles across the organisation and also worked alongside police colleagues to deliver collaboration projects. Prior to my role as Head of Community Risk & HRD, I managed South District.
Why do you like working for HWFRS?
I am proud to be part of an organisation that has enthusiastic and hardworking members of staff who strive to deliver a high quality service to the communities of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
What interests do you have outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, running and football, including dedicating a little too much of my time traveling up and down the country watching Newcastle United. I also have a keen interest in personal development, including studying for a degree and playing an active role in the Institution of Fire Engineers.
