What does your job involve?

The fire and rescue sector has experienced a great deal of change over the last decade and HWFRS has embraced this change to position themselves well for the future. With government reviews underway; from the way we communicate, to the way we are governed, it is my job to examine the potential impacts and opportunities these present for the Service, so we can continue to provide excellent value to our communities and a sustainable future for the Service. A large part of this is exploring how we can work closer with our partners to achieve a better service for the public in terms of reduced costs, greater resilience or improved outcomes for users, whilst maintaining the high quality services we currently provide.

When did you start working for the Service?

I started my career with in 1991 with Wiltshire Fire Service. In 1996 I transferred to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and, after working in various roles, joined HWFRS in 2000.

Why do you like working for HWFRS?

Serving the community is very rewarding and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that makes such a difference to people’s lives each and every day.

What interests do you have outside of work?

I have always lived in the country and enjoy spending times outdoors in the stunning scenery of both counties. Aside from that, my wife and daughters tend to keep me quite busy!
