Firefighters win lifesaving competitionLuxembourg challenge

A team from Ross-on-Wye Fire Station demonstrated their lifesaving skills in the Luxembourg National Rescue Challenge that saw firefighters from across Europe compete in a range of challenging rescue scenarios.

The team beat off the competition and were placed as first overall International Extrication Team, also winning Best Incident Commander, Best Medic and Best Technical.

The competition, which took place in Luxembourg from 2-3 June 2018, is renowned for pushing the boundaries with creative and complex scenarios that are designed to challenge the competitors. This year, the event involved a 20 minute scenario that involved a casualty in a car that had been forced inside a van by a tractor. Teams were tasked with dealing with the scenario and treating the casualty.

The team will now go onto compete in the World Rescue Challenge later in the year.
