Equality Scheme 2010 - 2013 - Consultation
Since 2007, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have adopted a Single Equality Scheme. This approach integrated the various pieces of current equalities legislation, performance frameworks, and the approach of moving towards a harmonised Single Equality Act for the future.
The introduction of the single equalities approach has proved successful for the Service and has led equalities practice locally in the Service, and across the country, as the Herefordshire & Worcestershire approach continues to be recognised as both a model of good practice and a useful framework for the development of Single Equality Schemes.
Various non-statutory instruments that drive equalities performance have also been incorporated to produce a unified action plan; most notably the Fire and Rescue Service Equality Framework (introduced in December 2009) and the national Fire and Rescue Service Equality and Diversity Strategy. These changes have been significant, and led to a complete revision of the action plan to continue to effectively support our continued achievement.
