Serious House Fire - Droitwich

The incident happened at Farriers Corner at just before 8pm last night (Wednesday 4 April). On arrival at the scene the first crew, from Droitwich, called for extra fire engines to attend due to the severity of the fire. The occupier had already escaped from the property unharmed.

Fire crews from Worcester (x2) and Bromsgrove also attended the incident. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property used hose reel jets to bring the fire under control. Firefighters also searched neighbouring properties to ensure the fire had not spread.

The fire was brought under control and crews remained at the scene until 10.30pm. Neighbours have received advice regarding fire safety in the home following this incident to prevent any similar incident in the future.

"This incident serves as a stark reminder of the danger of leaving pans and cooking unattended," said Group Commander Keith Chance. He urged all residents over the Easter holidays to ensure they have working smoking alarms and escape plans in place.
