Open Day at Kidderminster Fire Station
The event will be held at the fire station in Castle Road between 12 midday and 4pm.
Those attending will be able to have a closer look at a range of equipment and vehicles used by the emergency services, and members of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand to offer fire, road and water safety advice. Visitors will also have an opportunity to talk to partner agencies about local services.
Kidderminster firefighters will be demonstrating various rescue procedures, while the Young Firefighters Association are also supporting the open day and will be showcasing their skills in a number of drills throughout the afternoon.
Visitors will have chance to experience ‘the smoke house’, view the new Strategic Training Facility on station and to enjoy other activities, including face painting and a bouncy castle. Refreshments will also be available.
Station Commander Bob Sproat said: “This is an annual event we all look forward to. It’s a chance to show the local community the type of incidents we get called to and the range of community safety work we undertake. We also hope to show the whole family the real dangers involved in some of the hazards we encounter on a daily basis.”
The historic Caldwell Tower and grounds, situated just near the fire station at the end of Castle Street, will also be open for viewing.
