A life-saving device has been installed outside Worcester Fire Station, in a bid to help save the lives of people in our community who suffer a cardiac arrest.
Funded by charity ‘Droitwich AED’, the wall-mounted Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been sited at the fire station and is administered by the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner’s Estate Team.
The defib is clearly visible outside the fire station, fitted to an exterior wall and can be accessed by fire service staff and members of the public if someone in the vicinity suffers a cardiac arrest.
To access it, people need to phone 999 and ask for an ambulance and the code to open the box which houses it.
It can then be taken to the casualty and will be collected and returned by paramedics after the emergency.

“This is a superb, potentially life-saving asset for our fire station, available to both fire service staff and the public. We’re so grateful to Droitwich AED for making it available.
