Multiple crews attended fire in electrical substation

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called at approximately 12:52pm on Friday 9 February to an electrical substation on Worcester Road, Upton Warren, Bromsgrove.

Six fire engines from Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch attended the incident and on arrival crews were met with a developing fire that involved an electrical substation and a building. The site has partially been isolated and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used compressed air foam to extinguish the fire.

Electricity has been cut off throughout parts of North Worcestershire.

One male casualty has gone to hospital.

Group Commander George Marshall said: "The electrical substation has been partially isolated and the firefighters in attendance are working hard to contain the fire."

"Electricity supplies may be affected throughout the north of Worcestershire maybe affected. We are working hard with Western Power and hope to restore electricity as soon as possible"

**Update: The fire crews have extinguished the fire and dampening down is now in progress.
