Horse and Trap Pulled from River

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service received the call at around 11.15am and two rescue boats from Worcester were launched to search the river for the animal. Crews found a deceased horse which they tethered with a rope and towed back to the bank. As they pulled the horse from the water, they found a trap attached to its bridle. They also found a dead sheep in the river, which they also recovered from the water.

Crew Commander Martin Grey from HWFRS explained: "We were concerned to find the trap attached to the horse as we pulled it from the water but despite an extensive search of the river, both up and down stream, nothing further was found."

Police checks confirmed that there had been no one reported missing in the area in recent days.
