Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) responded to an industrial fire at M&M Timber in Clows Top, Kidderminster at 02:28 on Thursday 10 January 2019.

On arrival, a 40m by 20m area of the single-storey wood processing plant was well alight, but HWFRS quickly established that no people were in the building. Fire crews worked through the night to bring the flames under control, using six fire engines, two water carriers, hose reel jets, and breathing apparatus.

At its height, 30 fire crew, from four fire stations across the two counties were in attendance – also assisted by colleagues from Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service.

In addition to the timber, risks included the presence of oxy acetylene cylinders, asbestos in the roof materials, and the structural damage of the fire.

Fire crews remain at the scene for damping down and the Fire Investigation team is now on site to determine the cause of the fire.
