Fire Station Opens its Doors to the Public

Firefighters at Kidderminster Fire Station will be holding their annual open day on Saturday, May 15.

The event will be held at the fire station in Castle Road from 12pm to 4pm. Visitors will have the chance to look around a range of equipment and vehicles used by the emergency services.

Members of the Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand to offer fire, road and water safety advice. Visitors will also be given the opportunity to talk to partner agencies about local services.

Visitors will be able to visit ‘the smoke house’ and the Kidderminster firefighters will also demonstrate how they release a trapped person from a vehicle following a road traffic collision.

The Young Firefighters Association are again supporting the open day and will be showcasing their skills in a number of drills throughout the afternoon.

Station Manager Dave Williams said: ‘“We look forward to this annual event, which gives us an opportunity to show the community the kind of work we are involved in while having an enjoyable afternoon. We hope to show the whole family the real dangers involved in some of the hazards we encounter on a daily basis”.
