On-call firefighters needed at Pebworth
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting additional on-call firefighters at Pebworth Fire Station.
Men and women aged 18+ are invited to an awareness session at Pebworth Fire Station from 1830hrs on Monday 16 July, to try on fire kit and have a go at some role-related activities, learn about firefighter fitness, and find out how the role can fit around work and family life.
On-call firefighters must live or work within five minutes (actual travel time) of their local fire station and all recruits must be 18 or over at the date of joining.
On-call Firefighter Rebecca Lamb said: "Being an on-call firefighter is challenging but also extremely rewarding, as well as providing a vital service within the local community."
"It promotes self-development and the chance to learn new skills, such as first aid and problem-solving, and builds personal confidence. All of which are beneficial in other areas of an individual's life."
Trainee on-call firefighters receive an annual retainer of between £1,668 and £2,246 plus extra pay for attending emergency call outs and training. When fully trained, on-call firefighters can earn up to £8,000 a year.
