Have your say on the PCC business case

in News

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) released his business case this morning (12 June) to take over governance for fire and rescue services across the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Herefordshire and Worcestershire areas.

The rationale behind the change is cited as facilitating greater collaboration and easier integration of back office services (potentially realising up to £4m savings in the medium term against a combined annual budget of around £260m across the three organisations) and improving the opportunities to focus their combined resources on the wider prevention and protection agenda. The business case says that this will ultimately result in more resilient communities and a reduced demand on a number of critical services.

A public consultation on the business case commences today and will last for 12 weeks. During this time, staff and members of the public are able to give their view on the business case by visiting https://www.westmercia-pcc.gov.uk/working-together/west-mercia-fire-governance-consultation/
