Shed Fire in Ashperton

The alert was received at around 11.20pm, and two fire engines from Ledbury and the water carrier from Ross-on-Wye attended.

On arrival at the Leominster Road address, crews found a well-developed fire involving two large sheds used to store farm machinery and other vehicles, as well as several LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders.

The fire was brought under control by 1.45am this morning (Monday 12 February) with four firefighters in breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a covering jet and a main jet used.

Station Commander Martin Lown from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service explained: "We were made aware of the three gas cylinders stored inside one of the sheds and this was of immediate concern to us."

He confirmed that the LPG cylinders were moved outside to safety and cooled, and that while no one was injured during the incident, there was extensive fire damage to the sheds and the equipment inside it.

Police also attended the incident to assist with traffic control, and the Environment Agency was also informed.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
