Bromsgrove House Fire

The first 999 call was taken at 3.39am and on arrival at the scene firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered a fire on the third floor. Three hose reel jets, one main jet and a covering jet were used to bring the fire under control. An Aerial Ladder Platform was also used to help firefighters tackle the fire.

Group Commander Grant Wills said: “This was a significant and challenging fire but our firefighters worked quickly to stop it from spreading and to extinguish it as quickly as possible. We worked closely with our police and ambulance service colleagues at the scene.”

In total there were nine fire crews at the scene. These included fire engines from Bromsgrove (x2) Droitwich (x2) Kidderminster (x1) Redditch (x1) Malvern (x1), a Command Support Unit from Worcester and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Worcester.

Group Commander Wills confirmed that one person had escaped from the fire unharmed and a fire service investigation officer is working closely with the police to establish the exact cause of the fire.
