House Fire in Bewdley

The initial call came in at 10.10pm on Saturday 12 February and two pumps from Kidderminster, one from Bromsgrove and one from Stourport attended along with Aerial Ladder Platform and supporting appliance from Worcester.

On arrival, crews found a well-developed fire in the roof space and second floor of the three storey building, now used as flats. Eight firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire, with one covering jet and one main jet used. They also conducted a thorough search of the premises, ensuring that the three residents were safely accounted for, and that there was no one else inside the flats.

The police managed the road closure throughout the incident and the Red Cross Support Vehicle from Warwickshire also attended and transported one of the male residents to hospital for treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Group Commander Keith Chance from HWFRS confirmed that the fire is known to have started in the roof space and that investigation into how the fire started is continuing.

While the fire was brought under control shortly before 2am the following morning (Sunday 13 February), fire crews remained at the address until around 5am cutting away and damping down.
