Kidderminster Flat Fire

At 08:58Hrs on Friday 14th May 2010, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Service was called to reports of fire in a first floor flat on Riflerange Road, Kidderminster. Crews from Kidderminster and Stourport, attended the incident and tackled the blaze.

The fire had started in a bedroom and triggered smoke alarms alerting two adults who were asleep in another bedroom. The occupants were able escape before fire crews used breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and hose-reels to check the building and bring the fire under control.

Dave Williams, Station Manager – Kidderminster Said: “This incident clearly demonstrates the importance of making sure you have working smoke alarms in your home. Smoke alarms are very cheap in comparison to the costs of house fire.

“Anyone who would like information about fire safety can visit our Station Open Day at Kidderminster 11am to 4pm Saturday 15th May 2010, where my crews will be on hand to give advice.”
