Minibus passengers freed following collision

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was alerted to the incident just before 12.25pm today and two fire crews from Evesham and the Incident Support Unit from Droitwich attended, joining police and ambulance staff at the scene.

Crews arrived to find that a road traffic collision involving a small van and a minibus along a narrow lane in the village had left six elderly passengers trapped inside the bus, with the emergency exit blocked.

Firefighters used a winch to release the door and free the passengers, who were then checked by ambulance staff at the scene.

Crew Commander Chris Pirt from HWFRS said: “The minibus passengers were fairly shaken by their experience but thankfully no one involved is believed to have suffered any serious injuries.”

Fire crews ensured that the vehicles involved were left in a safe condition before leaving the scene.
