He officially started his career in the fire service in 1993 with Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service and progressed through the ranks to Area Commander. He continued: "The Service has already worked extremely hard over the last five years to ensure it is well-positioned to meet the challenges ahead. My intention is to ensure that we continue to successfully prioritise those areas where we need to make progress and lay the further foundations for a sustainable organisation that adds real value to the local communities of Herefordshire and Worcestershire."
Chairman of the Fire Authority, Derek Prodger MBE, said: "I'd like to congratulate Nathan on his permanent appointment and I have every confidence that he will be a strong leader that will help drive the organisation into the future."
