Ombersley Horse Rescue

One crew from Droitwich plus the Incident Support Unit, also from Droitwich, attended, arriving to find the horse trapped upside down in a section of the horsebox designed for the storage of tack.

Station Commander Bob Sproat from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) said: "We are not sure how the horse became trapped but it was upside down in the smaller part of the horsebox and unable to free itself."

He explained that once the horse had been sedated by a vet, firefighters used cutting equipment to remove the end section from the transporter, and the animal was released just before 9.50am.

The horse suffered cuts to its eyelid during the incident.
