Fatal Road Traffic Collision
At approximately 2:28pm today (17 March) firefighters from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a serious road traffic collision in Redditch in which a man died.
Crews from Redditch Fire Station joined a multi-agency response at the scene on the A441 Alcester Highway, near the junction with the Bromsgrove Highway, where they found a male casualty trapped inside a car that had collided with a lamp post.
Station Commander Phil Berry said: "Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty and to administer medical treatment. He was taken by paramedics to hospital via a land ambulance, but despite the emergency services doing all we could to help him, sadly he died soon. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
