Open day at Bromsgrove Fire Station this Saturday
Bromsgrove Police and Fire Station on Slideslow Drive will be opening its doors to the public this Saturday (22 August) for their annual open day.
Visitors will have the exciting opportunity to get a closer look at the impressive fire engines and equipment that firefighters use on a regular basis. The fire crews will also be providing fire safety advice and hosting an array of demonstrations throughout the day, which include a smoke tent, chip pan fire and a fire investigation. West Mercia Police will also be providing home safety advice and will excite the crowds by landing a police helicopter on the adjacent football field (weather and callout permitting).
If that's not exciting enough, the public will also have the chance to ride on a fire engine and watch the Young Firefighters Association (YFA) carry out a thrilling tower rescue. Not only will visitors be able to meet their local firefighters but they will also get to meet the police armed and response team, the dog unit and police motorcycle unit. The West Mercia Search and Rescue Team, Geoamey Prison Transportation and the Ambulance Service will also be attending.
The event takes place from midday until 4pm and, in addition to children's fun rides, Wellaphant and Peeler the police dog will be there to entertain the children. Visitors won't go hungry as refreshments will be available throughout the day, including a burger van, ice cream van and a cake stall.
