Firefighter Formally Congratulated
Watch Commander Simon Cusack, based at Kidderminster Fire Station, studied for two years in his own time to complete the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Congratulating Simon on his achievement, Simon’s manager at Kidderminster fire station, Station Commander George Marshall, said: “The diploma is a nationally recognised qualification aimed primarily at doctors and paramedics. Although Simon is a full-time Watch Commander with the Fire Service, he trained as a paramedic before becoming a firefighter and he continues to work on a part-time basis as a paramedic and air ambulance paramedic.
“Completing this diploma is a tremendous achievement and we are extremely fortunate to have someone with Simon’s exceptional medical expertise as part of the Watch here in Kidderminster. He is a highly motivated team player willing to share his skill and experience, and I would like to pass on our sincere congratulations to him on behalf of the Service.”
Simon was also named as the Birmingham Mail Emergency Services Local Hero at the end of last year.
