Redditch House Fire

Redditch House Fire

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to the address in Meadowhill Road Redditch at 07:10am.

Three fire appliances quickly arrived at the incident and upon arrival firefighters witnessed an adult descending a ladder provided by neighbours from the first floor. Fire crews, also using ladders, then rescued a man from the first floor level. The teenager had already safely evacuated the house. Both adults were conveyed to hospital for checks for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Crews wearing Breathing Apparatus were immediately committed to the property and the fire was successfully extinguished and confined to the kitchen area.

North Worcester Fire Commander Mick Cadman from HWFRS said: “The family was alerted to the fire downstairs by a smoke alarm and took immediate action with the assistance of neighbours. Without the smoke alarm this incident would probably have been very significant; smoke alarms save lives.”

He commended the neighbours who assisted and the work of his Redditch Fire Crews and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
