Local firefighters win Extrication & Trauma Challenge

in News

A team of firefighters from Ross-on-Wye Fire Station won first place at the Extrication & Trauma Challenge at the Derbyshire Police & Fire Service Joint Training Centre on Saturday, 16 June.

The extrication team competed in a 20 minute scenario against 11 other high ranking teams from across the country. They removed the casualty in just 18 minutes, allowing time for a further medical assessment prior to handing the casualty over to a medical professional.

The team won first Officer in Charge, first Technical team and second Medic, which ensured they placed first as overall winners on the day.

The event was also an opportunity to promote public road safety, with up to 200 members of the public and employees from Derbyshire Fire & Police attending throughout the day.

The team also recently won first place at the Luxembourg National Rescue Challenge and will now go onto compete in the World Rescue Challenge later this year.
