Fire Crews Called to Worcester High Street

The first call came in around 11:15am to a man and two children who were stuck in a lift in Marks and Spencer's on the High Street. The crew took approximately 15minutes releasing the occupants before returning to the fire station on Copenhagen Street.

The second call came in at 1:00pm from Debenhams (again on the High Street), following a small explosion and the smell of burning from an electrical fuse box in the store. Two crews attended the Debenhams incident as the building was evacuated. Firefighters identified and dealt with a small fire located in electrics which had caused the power cut in the store. One crew remained on scene whilst supplies were isolated and an electrician was called to check wiring to the premises. The store remained closed for the rest of Saturday.
