More Chimney Fires Prompt Further Warning

in News

This included an incident at around 1.55pm yesterday afternoon (Monday 23 April) when crews from Eardisley and Kingsland were called to a chimney fire at a house in Titley, in Stansbatch, involving a woodburner.

Station Commander Bob Sproat from HWFRS said: "After a warm spell in March, the weather has turned colder again and many people are re-lighting their fires when perhaps their chimneys are due a clean."

He explained that chimney fires have the potential to cause extensive damage to a home, but that most can be avoided simply by having chimneys swept regularly and using only the fuel recommended for the particular stove or burner.
