Fire at Recycling Plant
Three pumps from Hereford attended along with the water carrier from Ross-on-Wye, and firefighters are currently working alongside staff from the plant to bring the fire under control.
Station Commander Sean Bailey from H&WFRS said: "We are currently working with staff at the site to bring the fire under control. We estimate that around 16,000 cubic metres of recycled wood waste are involved in the fire, and on-site personnel are working to create a break around the pile of waste while firefighters provide covering jets."
He confirmed that the recycling plant is still open for business as normal and that there are no environmental concerns, although the Environment Agency has been informed.
Relief fire crews are now at the scene, and the incident is expected to be handed over to the staff at the plant shortly for them to manage as a controlled burning.
