Police charge man with fatal fire in Kidderminster

A man has been charged by police with causing a fire that killed a woman at an apartment in Horsefair, Kidderminster, on 27 November, 2014.

Sandra Nowocinska, aged 22, died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, four days after being rescued from the fire. A five-year-old boy was injured in the fire but has now recovered.

Mark Moat, aged 42 was charged yesterday (Wednesday 25 February) by West Mercia Police. He was arrested shortly after the incident and following a criminal investigation, which was conducted in liaison with fire investigators from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, he was charged with manslaughter and arson being reckless as to whether life of another would be endangered.

He is due to appear in court today. He was also charged with arson and threatening to cause criminal damage in relation to two separate incidents.
