Washing machine recall reminder

in News

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is urging washing-machine owners to check if their appliance is part of an urgent recall of Whirlpool products.

A fault has been identified where, in very rare cases, a component in the door lock system can overheat and, depending on the product features, this can then pose a risk of fire.

The recall affects appliances branded as Hotpoint or Indesit – up to 519,000 sold in the UK are involved.

Whirlpool has set up an on-line model checker where owners of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines bought since October 2014 will need to enter the model and serial number of their appliance. This can be found inside the door or on the back of the machine.
