Fire at disused factory

The initial call was received shortly before 10.30pm and crews from Kidderminster and Stourport were joined by the Pinzgauer (all-terrain vehicle) from Stourport at the factory site on the Stourport Road.

They found that a large fire involving a quantity of industrial rubbish had broken out at the premises, and used foam and the CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) from Redditch to tackle the fire.

Station Commander Dan Quinn from H&WFRS said: "The fire was brought under control by around 12.50am this morning (Tuesday 29 March) and a follow-up inspection at the site was arranged for 5.30am.

"A small outbreak was found during this inspection and firefighters from Kidderminster used a hose reel to apply more foam to extinguish the fire."

He confirmed that the Environment Agency has been informed about the incident and that a further inspection is scheduled at the site later today.
