Shed Fire, Batchley

Three fire crews from Redditch fire station attended, arriving to find a large shed on fire behind the takeaway. The blaze was extinguished with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, and two hose reels and one covering jet used.

Watch Commander Jon Laight from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) said: “We arrived to find large amounts of smoke in the road and so at first we thought we had a more serious fire on our hands. However, the fire was actually in a shed behind the takeaway and thanks to the quick actions of the crews, we were able to stop any spread to the shop or the premises above it.”

He confirmed that neither the shop nor the office space above it was occupied at the time and that no one was injured during the incident.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is still on-going.
