  • Police charge man with fatal fire in Kidderminster

    Thursday 26 February 2015

    A man has been charged by police with causing a fire that killed a woman at an apartment in Horsefair, Kidderminster, on 27 November, 2014.

    Sandra Nowocinska, aged 22, died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, four days after being rescued from the fire. A five-year-old boy was injured in the fire but has now recovered.

  • Fire safety advice during Industrial Action

    Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) is urging members of the public to take extra care during the forthcoming Firefighter industrial action.

    The 24 hour strike action will take place Wednesday 25 February, 7.00am until Thursday 26 February, 7.00am. This period of strike action will see HWFRS operating a reduced service.

  • Public Asked to Make 999 Calls Wisely During Industrial Action

    Tuesday 24 February 2015

    Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service (HWFRS) is urging members of the public not to make unnecessary 999 calls during this week's anticipated period of industrial action.

    HWFRS will be providing reduced emergency cover during the strike called by the Fire Brigades Union – which is expected to start tomorrow (25th February) at 7am and continues for 24 hours – so is asking for help from the local community.

  • New Fire Service Website Goes Live

    Monday 23 February 2015

    Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service launched a brand new website today, a project that is being delivered in partnership with the University of Worcester.

    The new site (www.hwfire.org.uk) has been completely redesigned and is now responsive so automatically adapts for viewing on a tablet or smart phone, making it one of only a handful of fire and rescue service websites in the UK to do so.
