Following the recent heavy rainfall Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is still urging people to take extra care on our roads. Motorists are warned not to drive through fords on flooded roads.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Jon Hall said: "We would urge those drivers who regularly use fords as short cuts to take extra care at the moment because there is still floodwater on the roads. " Please do not drive through floodwater – it is extremely dangerous. streams can suddenly become raging torrents. They are extremely fast flowing and dangerous and you could become trapped in your vehicle. Please take extra care on the roads and allow extra time for your journey. "The majority of the calls we received over the weekend were to people who had tried driving through floodwater and realised they could not get through. This can be very frightening."
