Roadside Snack Bar Destroyed in Arson Attack
A well known roadside snack bar in a lay-by at Martin Hussingtree, near Droitwich, was destroyed in an arson attack on the evening of Sunday April 26. Crews from Worcester and Droitwich attended.
Tennis Pavilion Destroyed at Hereford
A small wooden tennis pavilion at Bishop's Meadow, Wyeside, Hereford, was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Monday April 27. Arson is suspected. Two crews from Hereford attended.
Mother and Three Young Sons Escape from House Fire
A mother and her three young sons were able to escape from their semi detached home in Fairfield Close, Worcester after a smoke alarm alerted her to a severe fire in a ground floor kitchen. Three crews from Worcester and Droitwich tackled the blaze on the evening of Tuesday April 28.The fire is believed to have started as a result of a washing basket and clothes being left on the hob which was accidentally turned on. The family’s pet dog died as a result of smoke inhalation. The Red Cross Victim Support Unit from Worcester attended to support the family.
Boat Crew Search Submerged Van in Severn
A boat crew carried out a search of a van found partially submerged in the waters of the Stourport Basin during the early hours of Wednesday April 29. No one was found.

HRH The Princess Royal visited the Service on April 27 to officially open our Operational Logistics site at Malvern. More.....
During the visit HRH carried out a tour of the facilities and spoke with staff from sites across the Service. The Princess completed the tour by meeting members of the public who had been presented with commendations, Retired Firefighters, FRA Group Leaders and a group of architects who were involved in the build of Operational Logistics.
Finally HRH officially opened the building by unveiling a plaque and signing the visitor book.
Electric Blanket Fire
A housebound man was escorted to safety by Firefighters from Blue Watch, Worcester, after a fire involving an electric blanket at his home at St James Close, Littleworth near Worcester on Monday, April 20. After the man had been taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from smoke inhalation, the crew fitted working smoke alarms in the property.
Malvern Hills Fire
Crews from Malvern used a water pack and beaters to extinguish a fire in 15m of grass and undergrowth on the Hills above St Anne’s Well on Monday, April 20. Lamb Rescued by Boat Crew
A boat crew from Worcester rescued a lamb that was trapped on the bank above the River Severn near Kempsey on Monday, April 20.
Kitchen Fire
Caused by Unattended Cooker Two Droitwich crews extinguished a small fire in a kitchen at a house in Burrish Street. It is thought that the cooker had been accidentally switched on by a young child before the family left home shortly before 0900 hrs on Tuesday, April 21
Fifteen Repeat 999 Calls to Garden Shed Fire
Fire Control received 15 repeat calls in 12 minutes to a fire involving a garden store and brick built shed at Ibstock Close, Winyates East, Redditch on Wednesday, April 22. Two crews from Redditch attended. |

Lorry fire on M42
Four crews from Redditch and Bromsgrove together with two water carriers tackled a fire involving 20 tonnes of hay on an articulated lorry between junctions 3 and 2 on the westbound carriageway of the M42 on Wednesday evening, April 15.
Cannabis "factory" discovered by firefighters
Firefighters discovered several thousand cannabis plants when they tackled a fire in a building at Chatley,near Ombersley on Tuesday April 14. The building and the plants were badly damaged. The fire is believed to have been caused by overloading the electrical supply to the property.
Tiger Moth plane crash at Honeybourne
A Tiger Moth aircraft overturned when the pilot made an emergency landing in a field at the former Honeybourne Airfield near Evesham on Easter Monday, April 13. The pilot and her passenger were unhurt. Evesham and Pebworth crews attended - there was no fire.
Woman given oxygen following kitchen fire
Worcester firefighters gave a woman oxygen treatment following a fire in the kitchen of her home at Northfield Street, Worcester at lunchtime on Easter Sunday, April 12. Cooking oil had set fire to the oven. Crews used two BA and one HR.
USAR team and aerial ladder platform assist at woodburner fire
A USAR team from Droitwich used acro props to shore up wooden beams at Upper Moorhouse Farm, Much Cowarne, near Bromyard on Good Friday, April 10 following a woodburner chimney fire. Crews from Bromyard, Hereford and Worcester attended.
Bromyard crews search for "missing" lorry driver
Two Bromyard crews carried out a wide search of fields adjoining the A4103 at Evesbatch for the driver of a lorry following a fire that damaged the vehicle in the early hours of Tuesday April 7. The lorry owned by a Ludlow company was carrying copper cooling systems. The driver was not found and the incident was left with police. It was later confirmed by West Mercia Police that the lorry had been stolen from a business park at Ludlow.
Double fatality in microlight crash
Crews from Kingsland and Leominster were in attendance near Shobdon Airfield after a microlight aircraft crashed killing the pilot and passenger on Saturday April 4. Earlier that afternoon, crews from Stourport and Kidderminster carried out a search over a wide area North West of Kidderminster after a report of a light aircraft crash. A RAF helicopter was also used in this search. It was finally determined that the call was prompted by the incident at Shobdon.
Woman found dead after flat fire
A woman was found dead in a third floor flat at Elm Court, Elm Green Close, Worcester on Friday April 3. A fire had been extinguished prior to the arrival of two crews from Worcester. |
