School and Elderly Persons Home Flooded - Again !
Cherry Orchard Primary School and Timberdine Residential Care Home, Worcester were flooded when strom drains over flowed following heavy rain on Wednesday April 30. Crews from Worcester and Malvern pumped in excess of 150,000 litres of water away from both neighbouring premises which were not evacuated on this occasion, unlike the major flood emergency that occurred there on July 20, 2007.

Severe Traffic Congestion Delayed Crews Arrival at House Fire
Two crews from Worcester were delayed in arriving at a kitchen fire in a house at Eltric Road, at 17.40 hrs on Wednesday April 30 by "severe" traffic congestion in the City Centre caused by heavy rain and vehicles leaving the Racecourse. The ground floor kitchen was heavily smoke logged as a result of a microwave oven overheating. The occupier and her baby were unharmed having been alerted by the smoke alarm.

Crews Cut Roof Off Lift To Rescue Elderly Woman
A crew from Blue Watch, Worcester were unable to lower a lift mechanically in which a wheelchair bound elderly woman and her carer were trapped at Teme Court Nursing Home, Lower Wick, on Sunday April 27. Having secured the lift,they cut the timber roof off and used a ladder for the carer to climb out.Two crew members then climbed inside and lifted the woman in her chair up to two colleagues, who carried her out to safety.
