Pebworth Station Development...

The replacement of Pebworth Fire Station was approved as part of the 2009- 2013 Asset Management Plan, in line with Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service's Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP).

The decision for the new site / new build was based on the limited life-cycle and maintenance costs of the current Broad Marston Road facility and the need to comply with several statutory regulations, including the Disability Discrimination Act (2005), welfare regulations and fire service equality & diversity policy. The Broad Marston Road facility was badly affected by flooding in July 2007 and is deemed to be no longer fit for purpose.

Work on the new fire station in Stratford Road, Pebworth commenced in June 2010, with estimated completion by the end of 2010. The new facility will be fully operational early in 2011.

The new building features a two pump appliance bay and vastly improved on-call firefighter facilities, enabling more on-site training, improved flexibility for incident support, changes to operational vehicles, equipment and other future Service needs.

The buildings specification incorporates many features to reduce our impact on the environment: an attenuation pond will manage discharged water and a ground source heat pump will generate heat into the building. Subject to planning, the building will have roof mounted photovoltaic panels, which will generate electricity into the building and where not required, back into the national grid.

This new fire station will allow Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to provide the best possible service to surrounding areas and communities.
