Specialist Information
The Service have two High Volume Pumping Units, provided by the Government as part of a national strategy and they are located at Kidderminster Fire Station. The vehicle is based on a MAN chassis with a HI-AB hydraulic hook arm system that enables it to load/unload specialist pods. These hold 3 kilometres of 150mm hose and a Volvo Penta diesel powered Hydro Sub pumping unit. This has the capability of pumping 7,000 litres of water per minute, enough to support 3 fire appliances working to capacity. Its primary use is to supply water in support of fire fighting operations but is also used in flood relief operations. It carries a crew of 2 and always travels with a supporting appliance.
