Six fire engines fight blaze at Blackpole factory fire

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to a factory fire in Cosgrove Close, Blackpole, Worcester at 11:57 on Monday 3 June 2019.
On arrival at Aeromet International Ltd, fire crews found a well-developed fire involving the materials from the manufacturing processes, and made an assertive attack to bring it under control and to prevent escalation.
Precautionary evacuation and cordons were put in place to protect surrounding businesses and property. This was reduced when appropriate to minimise the impact on the industrial estate.
At its height, six fire engines from Worcester, Upton-on-Severn, Droitwich, Redditch and Bromsgrove, and 30 fire crew, plus the HWFRS environmental protection and control units, fought the blaze and minimised the losses to the business.
No casualties were reported.
Fire investigation officers have liaised with the company and established that the fire was started by accidental cause during maintenance activity.
Two fire engines and crews remained at the incident for damping down into the evening.
