House fire, Malvern

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was alerted to the fire just before 7pm and two pumps from Malvern and one from Worcester attended. A severe fire in the ground floor living room was brought under control with four firefighters in breathing apparatus, two hose reels and one covering jet used.

There was extensive fire damage to the ground floor of the house and very heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the property.

A male at the property was also treated by paramedics at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Group Commander Grant Wills from HWFRS said: “Crews arrived at the address to find a well-developed fire in the ground floor living room and flames coming from the window. The fire was quickly extinguished but it caused severe damage throughout the property.”

He confirmed that the Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service (FESS) also attended to offer help to the occupants following the incident, and that investigation into how the fire started is underway.
