Fire in Derelict Cottage

Two pumps from Ledbury attended, plus two further pumps and the water carrier from Ross-on-Wye, as well as another fire engine from Fownhope.

On arrival, crews found a severe fire in the roof space of the derelict building which they tackled with firefighters in breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.

Station Commander Kevin Williams said: "The fire had already taken hold as we arrived, with flames coming from the roof of the property and the roof collapsed into the first floor."

He confirmed that the fire was brought under control shortly after 3am this morning (Tuesday 10 July) with severe damage to the roof and one end of the first floor.

Fire investigation will continue today.
