Man Found Dead After House Fire in Herefordshire

in News

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house fire at 7:57am this morning in Madley, Herefordshire. Fire crews from Eardisley, Ewyas Harold and Hereford attended the incident.

A family member found the occupant, a man in his 80s, inside the property this morning and called the emergency services. The man was given first aid at the scene but was later declared dead. Fire officers are now working to investigate the incident.

Station Commander Neil Lilwall said: "The fire was small and had extinguished itself by the time the Fire Service arrived. The property was heavily smoke logged and firefighters ventilated the property accordingly.

"Our inspectors are working closely with West Mercia Police to determine the cause of the fire as well as the cause of death to discover if they are linked. Our thoughts are with the man's family at this difficult time."
