Road Traffic Collision at Dodford

A car towing a catering unit was in collision with a road bridge over a stream while a second car also left the road and came to rest approximately 10 metres below in the stream. Fire crews from Kidderminster and Bromsgrove attended along with police and ambulance staff, and the two occupants from the first vehicle and the single occupant of the second car were treated at the scene. One person was then taken to hospital by land ambulance. Firefighters used airbags and a winch to help police move the trailer unit and to ensure that the vehicles involved were made safe. The A448 Kidderminster Road between Bromsgrove and Kidderminster was closed as a result of the incident, and as fire crews left the scene, engineers were being called to inspect the road bridge and assess if any remedial action would be needed. Group Commander Mick Cadman from HWFRS said: “This had the potential to be a very serious incident, and those involved are lucky to have come away with what we understand to be relatively minor injuries.” He confirmed that the emergency services worked well together at the scene, and were doing all they could to ensure that the road could be re-opened as quickly as possible to minimise disruption for other road users.
