These included one in a property along Worcester Road in Stourport at 1.15pm, plus one in a house in Queensway in Ledbury and one at a pub in LLangrove in Herefordshire, both shortly after 8pm.
Confirming that H&WFRS has been called to over a quarter more chimney fires this winter compared to the same period last year (see Note 1), Watch Commander Darren Packwood from the Community Safety department said: "We are continuing to highlight chimney fires across the two counties as they have the potential to be very serious but many can be avoided, simply by having chimneys swept regularly and burning only the recommended fuel for the particular burner installed."
Details of approved chimney sweeps operating locally and advice on how often chimneys should be swept are included here under the Chimney Fire Safety heading.
Note 1 – H&WFRS was called to a total of 104 chimney fires between October – December 2010 compared to just 81 in the same period in 2009, which equates to an increase of 28.4%.
