in News

After a 13 week intensive training course, Young Firefighters from Droitwich showcased their newly learnt skills during a pass out parade at Droitwich Fire Station on Saturday 13th May.

Proud friends, family and Fire Service personnel looked on as the new recruits carried out a hose running drill, ladder climbs and various exciting rescue demonstrations. This was followed by a presentation, where Certificates of Achievement were awarded to each of the seven new recruits.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer John Hodges who presented the certificates said: "The new members of the Young Firefighters Association (YFA) have done themselves and their families proud and I would like to formally congratulate them for completing their training."

Now that their basic training is complete, the new recruits will progress to learn enhanced skills. As well as learning exciting firefighting skills, members of the YFA also take part in plenty of social activities, Fire Service events and an annual camp.

The YFA is open to young people aged between 13-17 who looking for a challenge. Further information on how to join and newsletters can be found at www.hwfire.org.uk
