Safety advice for Bonfire Night

in News

Station Commander Alan Haley from HWFRS’s Community Safety department explained: “Organised public displays are by far the safest way to enjoy Bonfire Night and so we are encouraging people to head along to one of these events with their families and friends rather than lighting fireworks themselves at home.”

This list will be updated on a regular basis until Bonfire Night on Monday 5 November and anyone holding an organised bonfire or firework display in Herefordshire or Worcestershire can add their event to the list by calling HWFRS on 0845 122 4454 or emailing info@hwfire.org,uk .

HWFRS’s Community Safety department has also provided schools across the two counties with a list of key messages and asked teachers to highlight firework safety in their assemblies in the run up to both Bonfire Night and Diwali (Indian Festival of Lights 13 – 17 November), to include a recommendation that children and their parents visit an organised event rather than risking injury by lighting bonfires and fireworks at home.
