Deer Rescued in Evesham

One fire crew from Evesham attended, arriving to find that a Muntjac deer had run across the road and become trapped in the metal railings of the bridge.

Watch Commander Russell Broadbent from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service explained: "The deer was unable to get its back legs through the railings and was starting to get quite distressed. We were able to calm the animal down by covering its head and then we used spreading equipment more normally used for road traffic collision rescues to bend the metal railings and free the deer."

He confirmed that the deer had minor grazes as a result of the incident but was released back into the wild otherwise unharmed.
