Horse Rescued at Strensham

The horse is believed to have leapt over the restraining bars inside the horse-box just 30 minutes into a four and a half hour journey.

Realising there was a problem, the driver of the horse box had pulled off the motorway into the Services and called for assistance. While a vet sedated the horse, firefighters made the horse box safe and then used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the metal bars.

While these were removed by 10.45am, the crew stayed at the scene a short while longer, assisting the vet until the horse was properly recovered from its sedation and could be led to safety.
