On-call firefighters needed for Droitwich
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting additional on-call firefighters at Droitwich Fire Station.
Men and women aged 18+ are invited to an awareness session at Droitwich Fire Station from 12 noon on Sunday 1 July, to try on fire kit, learn about firefighter fitness, and find out how the role can fit around work and family life.
On-call firefighters must live or work within five minutes (actual travel time) of their local fire station and all recruits must be 18 or over at the date of joining.
Station Commander Phill Sanders said: "Being an on-call firefighter is both challenging and extremely rewarding, and provides a vital service within the local community.
"The role also promotes self-development; skills such as first aid and problem-solving, along with increasing personal confidence, are attractive benefits that can help in all areas of an individual's life."
Trainee on-call firefighters receive an annual retainer of between £1,684 and £2,246 plus extra pay for attending emergency call outs and training. When fully trained, on-call firefighters can earn up to £8,000 a year.
Further details about the role of on-call firefighters and a full list of stations currently recruiting can be found on the Fire Service website.
